Back in May we headed to Barbados for the nuptials of one of my dear friends. To say it was amazing is an understatement. We arrived a few days prior to the wedding to maximize our time on this wonderful island. Everyday was spent as it should: on the beach. We adopted the low key feel of the island and kept it simple, never occupying ourselves with the “what’s next” mindset.
Having been to Barbados once before I did not have to do much research on where we would stay. I knew I wanted us to be in walking distance to the beach and St. Laurence Gap which is where all the bars and nightlife are. While there are tons of great places to stay on the island, I decided upon this one because the owner had not one but three dogs! I was totally sold just on that. Our host Zeema was amazing! She was so sweet and helped us with navigating the best places to visit and dine during our stay. We lucked out and got upgraded to a balcony room where we spent every evening enjoying rum punch and watching local soccer games across the street.
View of the local sports field from our balcony. This night in particular was a children’s soccer league which was incredibly adorable to see.
Beatutiful tiles on the walkway to our apartment
We got a little sunburned on our catamaran ride so we purchased fresh aloe vera from a street vendor. Try to buy aloe stems when you can-it’s infinitely more soothing than chemical laden bottled aloe. Chill in the fridge for even more relief.
