I cannot express how excited I am to be writing this post! 2 weeks ago I got engaged to my wonderful boyfriend/best friend/roommate/bro/travel companion/photographer! The guise was that we would go visit the monuments while his family was in town visiting. He had a friend with a dog that I’m obsessed with “happen” to walk by where we were on our tour of the National Mall. In true Tyler fashion, I abandoned the group and bolted to the dog. There on her collar was my ring but I was so oblivious I didn’t even notice! Before I knew it he was down on one knee and I blacked out, overcome with emotion. He had all our friends and family secretly waiting for us as he popped the question right where we met: the Washington Monument. The care and thoughtfulness that my fiancé put into this proposal is a true testament to why I fell in love with him. July 30th marks our special day and is also close to the day we first met on our softball team 3 years ago.
I tear up pretty much every time I tell the story and when I think about our wedding so bracing for impact for our official planning 🙂 I’m just so thankful and happy that I’ve found the person I’m going to spend the rest of my life with. Don’t get me wrong; it’s not all sunshine and rosé now that we are engaged but it definitely puts things in perspective. We’ve officially committed to sharing all of life’s triumphs and disappointments and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m so excited to share the wedding planning process with you but for now I’m still reveling in our engagement.
Thank you to all our amazing family and friends who traveled from near and far to be with us on this unforgettable day!
Special thanks to friend and photographer, Chase McAlpine, for capturing our special moment with these photos!
